This Privacy Policy explains how The Lazy Times ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit our website www.thelazytimes.com (the "Site").
Please note: While The Lazy Times publishes satirical content, this Privacy Policy is a genuine legal document. It describes how we handle your real personal information, and it is not satire.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and to processing your personal information lawfully and transparently in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa. Where visitors access the Site from outside South Africa, we also aim to respect applicable data protection laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

- Otherwise correspond with us.
2.2 Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically by our systems and the third-party services we use, including:
- Your IP address and approximate location (derived from it);
- Browser type and version, device type, and operating system;
- The pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and the website or source that referred you;
- Interaction data such as clicks and scrolling, used to understand how the Site is used.
2.3 Cookies and similar technologies. The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to function properly and to understand how it is used. See Section 4 for details.
We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal information (such as information about your health, religion, or political beliefs), and we ask that you do not send such information to us.

8.How long we keep your information
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. For example, newsletter subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe, and analytics data is retained for the period set by our analytics provider. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10.Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Request deletion of your information where appropriate;
- Object to the processing of your information in certain circumstances;
- Withdraw consent that you previously gave (for example, to marketing emails);
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
